Growing up I always gravitated towards art and sports. For many artistic kids my age, art consisted of watching toonami after school and trying to draw the complex characters from the various shows.
Once high school came around sports melded down into solely skateboarding and art became more about the fundamentals. I was very grateful to have amazing art teachers that always challenged and supported their students who took an interest.
SASD, the design school under University of Bridgeport was an excelent program. Sometime during my freshman year, I picked up my first camera. From then on my photography followed design in a close second.
After a short stint in Boston, I ended back up in CT. Finding a job seemed daunting since it seemed like every one required 5 years experience. Fortunately I found Checkmate and was able to get in on the ground floor. Well, technically the basement. To be more specific Checkmate went from doing youtubers' banner images to major phone application projects.
At Checkmate I best honed my ux/ui skills and illustration skills.
After 4 years at Checkmate I really wanted to get out of CT. On impulse I drove to Pittsburgh and fell in love with it. After moving, in no time at all, I ended up landing a job at Imagebox. Imagbox was a small boutique firm which felt very similar but they had already been in business for over a decade. Instead of focusing on large app projects, Imagebox focused on fast turn around website projects.
At Imagebox I best honed my Web Design skills. I learned how to not fixate so much on the end result and hit deadlines. The fast turnarounds on projects, really allowed me to step up my production speed.
On Jan 1st 2023, Imagebox merged with the Pittsburgh location of Chemistry Agency to form React Digital.
At React Digital, I mostly took on the role of closing out Imagebox legacy projects. This was predominantly webdesign and print projects. I also worked on some app design maintenance for preexisting Chemistry clients.
